Mommy & Me packs are given to newborns and their families. Each pack includes five new board books, a crinkle book, three educational toys, and tips on how to read and play with their child. Bags also include other literacy resources.
Books are provided to children from birth to age 5 at Cherokee Health Systems as part of their Brush, Book, Bed program, which encourages families to develop a consistent bedtime routine, including brushing their teeth, reading a book, and going to bed at the same time each night.
The littlest learners at Title 1 preschools in our community are provided with books selected with them in mind—real faces, diversity, and silly books that elicit belly laughs! Each book also includes a post-it note with literacy tips. Literacy includes reading, writing, talking, and listening, so we encourage writing (scribbling), conversing, and reading with your child daily!
Our partner organizations allow us to reach those most in need in our community, providing them with resources and one-on-one literacy guidance.
