Teach adults to read: Our beginning readers program uses the Wilson Reading System and one-on-one volunteer teachers to launch adults on the path to reading. This program is open to anyone who can verbally communicate in English, regardless of their native language.

Tutor in basic education classes: Our adult basic education classes include language arts and math for students at an elementary level. Adults are grouped based on academic level and work in small learning cohorts facilitated by an instructor, assisted by volunteers. Volunteers also work one-on-one with students outside regular class time for enhanced learning opportunities.

Help around the office: Friends of Literacy uses volunteers to help with office tasks such as answering the phones, enrolling students, and copying materials.
