Part-time Reading Education Specialist sought for Friends of Literacy in Knoxville.
Applicant must be able to work with adults and teach courses on the developmental level. One should have the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, as well as create both a flexible classroom program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. The right person will diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and match volunteer tutors with students. Duties include but are not limited to developing curriculum, conducting formal and informal assessments, purchasing instructional materials, teaching, supervising volunteers, and monthly reporting. Applicant must be self motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, have an outgoing personality, and have knowledge or experience with stated job tasks. This is a part-time position working 2 days a week for up to 15 hours, early evening and daytime hours are required. Applicant must have a Bachelor in Education. Experience in special Ed and teaching elementary reading helpful. Preferred candidate has a degree with a concentration in reading education, special education or equivalent.
