Part-time Reading Education Specialist working with adults sought for Friends of Literacy in Knoxville. Applicant must be able to teach courses on the developmental level, have the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, create both a flexible classroom program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and be able to help volunteer tutors diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials. Duties include but are not limited to developing curriculum, purchasing instructional materials, teaching, supervising volunteers, and monthly reporting. Applicant must be self motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, have an outgoing personality, and have knowledge or experience with stated job tasks. This is a part-time position working mostly Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day for 8 hours a week. Applicant must have a Bachelor in Education. Masters with a concentration in reading education or equivalent preferred. Experience teaching pre-k or elementary reading helpful.
