After searching high and low, Friends of Literacy has discovered Knoxville’s most good looking, well-versed, and multi-talented men. Most importantly these men are single! They've put their boyish reservations aside for the good of a greater cause: fighting illiteracy in Knox County. How are they going to pull this off? By auctioning off dates with Prince Charming himself to the highest bidder on the floor! Come watch FOL flaunt this year's pick of the litter!
- 6:30 VIP reception $60 - includes champagne drink, food, chance to mingle with bachelors, and front table at auction
- 7:30 - Doors open to all ticket holders, $35 in advance $45 at the door - food, $3 signature drink, mingling with bachelors for 30 minutes

TV Reporter, WATE
If you think you recognize this bachelor, you’re probably right! Josh is a reporter for WATE 6 News. He loves adventure and can be found hiking, running a 5K, or white water rafting. But he most enjoys riding roller coasters, and Thunderhead at Dollywood is his favorite. Josh says he can’t live without his family and being around them brings a smile to his face.
Marlon is an old-fashioned guy who is waiting for that perfect girl to catch his eye. An animal lover and country music fan, he enjoys mountain biking and spending time on the lake. He favors memorable dates over the standard drinks and dinner and would love to one day travel to Rome to see the Coliseum.
A former athlete at the University of Tennessee, Brian’s friends describe him as fun, entertaining, and living life to the fullest. He is a busy dad of three and volunteers time when he can to the American Diabetes Association. He enjoys living life and places his family, friends and God as his highest priorities.
A contractor who is also pursuing a degree in Nutrition Science, Mark stays busy with organic gardening, raising chickens, canoeing and spending time with his son. Mark is a committed vegan who enjoys cooking for large groups and is always ready and willing to help a neighbor in need. His friends describe him as very giving and adventurous, and he has been called MacGyver a time or two.

Although he is a successful business owner Marcus is a down to earth well-rounded guy. He likes to stay as active as possible by working out at the gym, mountain biking, and he is on two flag football teams. When not on the move you can find him watching college football or enjoying a fun day on the lake wakeboarding, relaxing, and listening to country music. And get this, he says he "likes to cook fancy meals."

Adam is an adventurist who isn’t afraid to take a risk. Some of his favorite activities include camping, white water rafting, repelling, zip lining, and caving. He is active in his church’s praise team and plays basketball in a city league. The mountains are among the things he loves about living in East Tennessee. Adam is a tough guy with a good heart.
Sam is a well-rounded guy that enjoys anything from woodworking and metal working to just about any type of sports. He is an avid tennis player who enjoys spending his summers boating on Tellico Lake or hiking in the Smokies. He is a longtime volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He appreciates a good sense of humor and he dislikes negative people. His experience free climbing the North Face of Mt. Olympus will allow for plenty of stories to keep you talking all night.
Dentist/Owner, Tennessee Valley Dental
Joshua has a quick wit and a caring heart. When not busy at his dental practice he volunteers his time with Remote Area Medical providing services to at-risk populations. “I simply lace ‘em up and go wherever they need me whenever they need me.” This proud father likes to travel, fly fish, and snap a photo or two. He enjoys the cinema including the classics like The Great Gatsby and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Sid is a local attorney who thinks that becoming a trial lawyer and learning to fly his own plane are among his greatest accomplishments. He enjoys traveling, the theatre, and exploring the many Knoxville restaurants. His favorites are Nama, Shuck and The Orangery. Given the chance to take a getaway, Sid would most like to take off to Paris or Rome. Friends describe Sid as “easy to get along with,” and a friendly face is what makes him smile.
A Chicago native, Derek stays busy taking classes, working as a military instructor, and finding time to participate in charity volleyball tournaments for the Make a Wish Foundation. He is a proud dad who says his son is his greatest joy. Derek has been fortunate to travel around the world and is a self-described adrenaline junkie, but he is happy spending quiet time at home in shorts and a t-shirt.
Accountant / Business Owner
Viren is from Bombay, India. He enjoys living in East Tennessee because of the four seasons, the proximity to the Smokies and the many greenways. Viren enjoys immersing himself in different cultures, Bollywood music, photography and considers himself a book lover. Viren says his friends would describe him as thoughtful, funny, dependable, and a wonderful dad.
Electrical Engineer, TVA
His dog, his friends, and a cold beer – these are things that Jonathan can’t live without. An electrical engineer at TVA, Jonathan is the other half of our duo of bachelor brothers. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys jogging with his dog, playing billiards, UT football, and local microbreweries. He says his friends would describe him as “quiet – until he’s not”. His dream destination would be ringing in the New Year in Times Square.
“Work hard, play hard” is one of Matthew’s favorite quotes, and he certainly lives true to these words. His friends agree, describing him as someone who lives life to the fullest. A law student who will graduate in May 2013, Matthew is proud to have completed two internships with the Tennessee Supreme Court and still find time to snowboard, play golf, and watch the Vols. His idea of a perfect first date would be a simple one with lots of opportunity for good conversation.
Law Enforcement / Police Officer
Sergio may originally be a California boy, but the East Tennessee mountains, southern hospitality, and sweet tea have captured his heart. His hobbies include soccer, Mixed Martial Arts, and wakeboarding. He is currently learning how to play the guitar. This joyful, honest, spontaneous, warm hearted guy says that he hopes his smile is the first thing you notice about him.
John is a real humanitarian who lends his time and expertise to a number of causes including Remote Area Medical, The Knoxville Greenways Coalition, and the Sertoma Club. When he has time to relax, John likes taking in the charm of historic Knoxville, spending time on the water, or enjoying a show at the Bijou or Tennessee Theatre. Great art, genuine wit, and playful pets are sure to make John smile.
Kevin is a true renaissance man! A licensed esthetician, Kevin’s interests include special effects make-up, reading a good book, watching horror movies, singing in his church choir, and hanging out with his adorable dog. Friends describe him as loyal, encouraging, and a little bit nerdy. His faith is a big part of his life, and he makes the time to volunteer at his church as much as possible. He dreams of one day taking a trip to New Zealand, but in the meantime he’s content to take someone special for a hike and picnic lunch in the Smokies.
Community Volunteer / Pilot
If you’re looking for adventure, Wade is your man. His friends describe him as adventurous and he enjoys zip lining, sky diving, hang gliding, and “anything risky.” His dream job would be as a charter pilot in the Caribbean or travel locally and to other countries volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. When he is not looking for adventure Wade can be found serving as a Big Brother where he has mentored for over 13 years.
This hard-working East Tennessee native is living his dream as the owner of his own business. When he’s not working he enjoys golfing, reading, dining out at Sapphire, and watching movies, especially The Godfather I & II. He would love to one day travel to Europe and wishes that he could’ve hung out with Elvis. Described by friends as a loyal guy, his greatest accomplishment is making his parents proud.

This tall easy going sportswriter would love to one day spend his time singing like Pavarotti or writing a novel. Mike enjoys bicycling, foreign movies and reading about travel. He is most proud of this two adult children and values being part of a good, loving family. His favorite hangout is the Public House and hearing friends laugh make him happy.
A native Knoxvillian, Brian enjoys both the natural beauty and sophistication that our town has to offer. He enjoys bicycling, blues music, good local food, craft beers, outdoor adventures and art, art and art! He says that he hopes that his friends would describe him as supportive and creative. Brian enjoys hanging out with friends either at home, on the porch, or around the table. “I don’t have to be out if I’m surrounded by good people.”

A seasoned traveler, David plans to make it to the Virgin Islands this year and dreams of going to Germany, Spain and Norway. This funny guy loves his Vols and attends as many football and basketball games as he can. He enjoys craps, roulette, and blackjack and recently went to Vegas to test his luck.
